In the present report, the challenging task of drug delivery across the blood-brain barrier (BBB) is ad-dressed via a computational approach. The BBB passage was modeled using classification and regression schemes on a novel extensive and curated data set (the largest to the best of our knowledge) in terms of log BB. Prior to the model development, steps of data analysis that comprise chemical data curation, structural, cutoff and cluster analy-sis (CA) were conducted. Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA) and Multiple Linear Regression (MLR) were used to fit clas-sification and correlation functions. The best LDA-based model showed overall accuracies over 85% and 83% and for the training and test sets, respectively. Xác định các chỉ số đông cầm máu ở trẻ sơ sinh non tháng điều trị tại khoa Nhi Bệnh viện Đa khoa Trung ương Thái Nguyên. Đối tượng và phương pháp: Nghiên cứu mô tả trên bệnh nhi sơ sinh non tháng vào điều trị tại khoa Nhi Bệnh viện Đa khoa Trung ương Thái Nguyên từ 10/1/2014 đến 31/12/2014. Kết quả: Có 257 trẻ sinh non vào điều trị, tỉ lệ trẻ trai chiếm 54,9%; tuổi thai 32-36 tuần chiếm 84,4%; cân nặng dưới 1500 gam chiếm 14,4%; 70,4% trẻ vào viện 3 ngày đầu sau sinh. Tỉ lệ tiểu cầu giảm dưới 150.000/mm3 là 9,0%; fibrinogen giảm chiếm 62,6%. Tỉ lệ trẻ sinh non 28-31 tuần có PT(%) giảm là 70,0%, thời gian PT kéo dài là 72,5%. Vietnamese agricultural policy has changed radically during the past 5 decades. Decollectivization in the 1980s and 1990s followed 2 decades of collective agriculture. This article examines the effects of agricultural policy on land use. It reports the results of remote image interpretation and socioeconomic field study in a Black Thai commune in Vietnam's northern mountains. It suggests that the landscape in the commune has been highly dynamic and that this dynamism was partly the result of the agricultural policy. Collectivization and decollectivization affected land use, but their influence was mediated by other factors, primarily changing technology and markets. In addition, the relationship between national policy and local land use is complicated by 2 factors: (1) changes in local institutions may predate national reforms, and (2) implementation of national policy and the resulting local institutions may differ from place to place. Social media mining from Internet has been an emerging research topic. The problem is challenging because of massive data contents from various sources, especially image data from user upload. In recent years, dictionary learning based image classification has been widely studied and gained significant success. In this paper, we propose a framework for automatic detection of interested uniforms in image streams from social networks. The systems is composed of a powerful feature extraction module based on dense SIFT feature and a state-of-the-art discriminative dictionary learning approach. Tyrosinase is an oxidoreductase that is very important in medicine and cosmetics because the excessive production of melanin causes hyperpigmentation. The development of novel, effective tyrosinase inhibitors has long been pursued. In preliminary tests, we found that an extract of the wood of Artocarpus heterophyllous (AH) potently inhibited tyrosinase activity. Results: Two new flavonoids, artocaepin E (1) and artocaepin F (2), were isolated from the wood of AH, together with norartocarpetin (3), artocarpanone (4), liquiritigenin (5), steppogenin (6), and dihydromorin (7). Their structures were elucidated using one-dimensional (1D) and two-dimensional (2D) nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and mass spectrometry. The absolute configuration of 2 was determined from the circular dichroism (CD) spectrum. Porous nanosilica (PNS) has been attracting much attention in fabrication of nanocarriers for a drug delivery system (DDS). However, the unmodified PNS-based carriers exhibited a significant initial burst release of drug, which may limit their potential clinical application. In this study, PNS was surface conjugated with cyclodextrin (CD) which was functionalized with adamantylamine-polyethylene glycol (APEG) for 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) delivery, in which case CD was used due to its ability to form a stable inclusion complex with 5-FU and APEG. The conjugated PNS (PNSC@APEG) was successfully prepared with spherical shape and diameter around 50 nm, determined by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). In addition, 5-FU was efficiently trapped in PNSC@APEG particles, which were around 63.4%±3.8% and was slowly released up to 3 days in phosphate buffer saline (PBS). Brain-computer interfaces (BCI) based on P300 event-related potentials (ERP) could help to select characters from a visually presented character-matrix. They provide a communication channel for users with neurodegenerative disease. Associated to these kinds of BCI systems, there is the problem to determine whether or not a P300 was actually produced in response to the stimuli. The design of this classification step involves the choice of one or several classification algorithms from many alternatives. Support Vector Machines (SVM) and Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA) have been used to achieve acceptable results in numerous P300 BCI applications. However, both of them suffers from the high dimensional problem which leads to deterioration of their performance. Porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) causes severe diarrhea and dehydration in suckling pigs and has caused high rates of death among piglets and substantial economic loss in Vietnam since 2009. To investigate the genotypes of prevailing PEDVs, intestinal and fecal samples from piglets from central and northern Vietnam were collected and analyzed. Phylogenetic analysis of the nucleotide sequences of complete spike genes of PEDVs from Vietnam resulted in the identification of two divergent groups. PEDVs (HUA-PED45 and HUA-PED47) belonged to the G2b group, along with Chinese, US, and Korean strains occurring at the end of 2010, in May 2013 and in November 2013, respectively. Six strains from the Quang Tri region were assigned to the G1b group, along with Chinese and US strains. Chemical modification of silicon nitride (SiN) microsieves with glutaraldehyde and 3-glycidoxypropyldimethylethoxysilane (GOPS) for bio-coupling with an antibody to capture MCF-7 circulating tumor cells of breast cancer is reported. In this research, the antibody monoclonal anti-cytokerantin-FITC with fluorescein isothiocyanate label was used due to its good selectivity to MCF-7 circulating tumor cells of breast cancer. Modification efficiency was determined by the variation of contact angle. The increase in contact angle of the microsieves treated with glutaraldehyde and GOPS indicated that the microsieve surface changed from hydrophilic to hydrophobic. These results confirmed the successful immobilization of glutaraldehyde and GOPS onto SiN microsieves. Antibody binding effect was evaluated by fluorescence microscopy.
